WE ARE THE ANGLICAN UNION

The world is in chaos. Everywhere, people are searching for a way to live amid profound uncertainty. How will we proceed? Which way will we go?

It has been said that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

The Anglican Union is an international fellowship of Christians committed to a deeper way—a shared pilgrimage shaped by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior of the world. Drawing from the strength and clarity of the Celtic Anglican Christian tradition, we walk the ancient paths of prayer, service, unity, and catechesis, forming mature disciples and resilient communities for a complex and uncertain age.

Across Africa, India, Europe, and the Americas, our common life is expressed through our oratories: Christ-centered communities ordered around enduring charisms. These are places where faith is practiced, character is formed, and the Gospel is lived faithfully in the midst of cultural change, institutional instability, and spiritual fragmentation.

In a time marked by fear, distrust, and the collapse of shared foundations, we are anchored in the hope of a new world and a new humanity—created, animated, and sustained by God. This hope calls us into a dynamic family of faith, partnering with all whom God raises up to practice the universal Christian faith within the Anglican tradition.

We invite you to explore this site and discover how we walk this pilgrimage together—and what God is revealing along the way. Perhaps here you will find renewed direction, courage, and hope for your own journey.

STANDING OF THE ANGLICAN UNION

Who is the Anglican Union

The Anglican Union was formed in 2018 in the United States with a desire to gather like-minded Anglicans—and other Christians—from around the world into a shared life and mission. Our purpose is simple and enduring: to work together for the faithful proclamation of the Good News of Jesus Christ and the formation of Christian communities rooted in prayer, sacrament, and mission.

Our Relationship to the Worldwide Anglican Communion

The Anglican Union exists within the historic and global Anglican tradition. Episcopal oversight is provided by our Patron Bishops in Africa, connecting us to the wider Anglican Communion and to the historic See of Canterbury—one of the three ancient centers of the universal Church alongside Rome and Constantinople.

We are canonically related to  Anglican dioceses in Africa and are richly blessed by the pastoral leadership and oversight of our Patron Bishops, including:

  • The Rt. Rev. Michael Hafidh, Diocese of Zanzibar, Tanzania
  • The Rt. Rev. Godfrey Mbelwa, Diocese of Lweru, Tanzania
  • The Rt. Rev. Raphael Haule, Diocese of Ruvuma, Tanzania
  • The Rt. Rev. Jackson Sosthenes, Diocese of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
  • The Rt. Rev. Peter Joh Mayom, Diocese of Malek, South Sudan
  • The Rt. Rev. Dr. George Neequaye, Diocese of Tema, Ghana

All clergy serving within the Anglican Union are licensed by our Patron Bishops and minister under their episcopal authority delegated through the Apostolic Prefect – The Rt. Rev. Dr. Kevin Francis Donlon, Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of Zanzibar.

ST. AIDANS INSTITUTE

St. Aidan's Institute is a distinguished branch of the Center for Theological Leadership Training (CTLT) and a ministry of the Anglican Union for the Propagation of the Gospel. It offers a uniquely flexible path to an affordable, fully accredited theological education grounded in the Old and New Testaments, the Anglican tradition, and the faith that was once delivered to the saints.

NEW POD-TRACT SERIES

The original Tracts for the Times (1833-1841) were a series of pamphlets written by the leaders of the Oxford Movement—John Henry Newman, John Keble, Edward Pusey, and others. Their purpose was to call the Church of England back to its historic, catholic roots. If a similar series were produced today, the titles and topics would have to speak to the ecclesial, theological, cultural, and ethical challenges that confront not only Anglicans but all Christians who cherish ecumenical fellowship—especially those seeking deeper connections among the legacy churches..
This series' aim is to preserve the original spirit of doctrinal depth, ecclesial breadth, and moral seriousness, while framing the discussion for twenty-minute bi-monthly podcasts that function as catechetical teaching moments. Each episode invites listeners to think deeply about serious questions, both within and outside the church.
